I'm terrible with daily devotionals. I usually end up reading them like I would a novel. One that I keep going back to though, has been My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers.

Hi Lisa,

I have four devotional books. I continue to read them over and over. The one that has had the most profound effect has been Oswald Chambers "My Utmost For His Highest." It's about my 3rd year reading it, and I write notes in it, so it's interesting as I go back to read, and see where my heart was at that time, by the notes I wrote on each page.

Other than the Bible, I believe the Lord is using this devotional to help rid me of THE "Me, Myself & I" syndrome that keeps getting in the way of total surrender. Also, I think this devotional encourages one to read their Bible, and desire to know God more and more.

I'm not very good at the daily devotional thing but I have used Streams in the Desert after receiving at as gift. I have not selected a specific devotional for the new year. I plan to use a read through the Bible in chronological order as my daily time.

I'm rather schizophrenic about devotionals. I've got a stack of them so I don't follow any one routinely. Mostly I pick & choose. Then again, I often prefer reading Psalms & Proverbs as a devotional.

No matter what vehicle you select, the simple, humble act of being still before the Lord is a sure way to grow.

How like you to be intentional about the devotionals you will be using in 2012. I am familiar with many of the ones you mentioned. Streams in the Desert has been one that has helped me through the recent storms of my life. The Utmost for His Highest is one I keep returning to. This past year I've been using Sara Young's Jesus Calling and have loved it.

I purchased "From the Trash Pile to the Treasure Chest: Creating a Godly Legacy" after reading about it on Elisa's site More to Be. I'm looking forward to this as I want to leave a godly legacy for my nieces and nephews and the other younger ones in my life.

You have been such a beam of sunshine for me these last few years Lisa. How thankful I am that the Lord brought you into my life. I know we will be forever friends.

Great selection! I'm going to be using Disciplines of the Inner Life, by Bob Benson - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0967772508. I started it last year, but with reading through the Bible in a year, it was too much. This year, it will be my quiet time companion and I am so looking forward to it!
