The Christ in Christmas__Katie's love

My husband and I were out to breakfast last weekend after church. We have a little place we enjoy. It's one of those places that's in the neighborhood, so the Servers get to know the customers. I am a bit particular about certain things and one is where I sit. I don't like to be seated near the Restrooms or the Kitchen areas. This particular Restaurant is accustom to me (smile) so we usually sit in the same section whenever we visit.

This past weekend we had a very nice Server one whom we usually have but right in the middle of breakfast another Server put her head over the wall that separated our booth area from the table area, and with the biggest, brightest smile she said, "Hi ya'll! So good to see you again." It had been a while since we saw that particular Server. I was quite surprised she had remembered us.

My husband asked her name as we greeted her warmly. Her name was Katie. We introduced ourselves and for the next 10 minutes we had a conversation that reflected the Christ in Christmas. Katie never stopped smiling as she proceeded to tell us that the adoption of their twins from another country, after a 2 year ordeal, had finally happened. She spoke about, in her words, her African Christian Baptist Husband whom she adores and identified herself as a White Catholic. They have a child together and now adopted two more precious ones. She told us of how they made sure over the 2 years to have contact and develop relationships with the children. She was just plum excited about having all of them together under one roof now.

We congratulated her and her family. We spoke of our daughters, son-in-love and grand daughters and our love for our family. Oh her excitement to find out that our son-in-love is also African as is her husband.  She told us that the three sisters (her siblings) in the family all married different cultures. Her husband is African, her sister married a Puerto Rican man and her other sister married an Asian man. She said when they all come together at their parents homes her Father jokes that it looks like the united nations around their table.  I told her the united nations has nothing on what Heaven will look like or be like. Praise the Lord! All the colors that God created will come together which is why I often say Christians should learn how to get along here because we'll be up close and personal in Heaven--no separation.  She agreed!

She showed us photos with beaming smiles. Her love for her husband and her children was more than evident.  I told her that as Christians; believers in and followers of Jesus Christ, I shared with her what Christmas truly means to us.  She agreed.  She was determined to be sure that her children would not be given so much of the toys etc. because she wanted them to understand the true meaning that Christ came and died for our sins. I totally agreed! Oh I loved chatting about Jesus with Katie as did my hubby. I'm sure if her husband had have been present we would have invited them to pull up two chairs and Katie would not have been able to do her job (smile)!

We loved on her further and spoke a word of blessing over her and her family. We never stopped smiling and neither did Katie. It was one of the best breakfast out that I've ever had. Three people who love the Lord and our families came together for 10 minutes and spoke like old friends and even more like family in Christ and that's what we are.

The CHRIST in CHRISTmas affects who we are, how we live and how we interact with one another. You can always know when Jesus loving people are in the room, they will attract one to another and be eager to share their lives in Christ together.

There is something extra special about our Jesus...words can not express...only tears of love, humility and gratitude. He is great. He is our Lord, our Savior and our King!

Luke 1:30-33 (KJV) And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

Thanks for visiting. Merry CHRISTmas!! And please share how you are seeing Christ in Christmas being lived out in your day to day life.

I love this Lisa! You shine the light of Jesus wherever you go and God gets the glory. This is how we are to walk on this earth; allowing Him to work in us and through us to impact others. I got to see this first hand when I met you in person.

This encounter reminded me of one that occurred for me and my niece Katie when we were visiting the Brooklyn Tabernacle in NY. We had breakfast after church and a couple sat at a table next to us. You know how close they position those tables in NYC. But we had a lovely conversation about the Lord and His goodness and our lives. The woman agreed to pray for my niece since she hasn't yet become a believer.

So glad to read of your after church ventures and the joy you are spreading.

Love you,
Debbie

What a great post - I was smiling as I read it.
I love how we can feel that bond with other believers, so matter what our differences may be!

Loved how you compared heaven to the United Nations, Lisa. Can't imagine what it's going to be like!

I am so enjoying my personal Christmas worship this year. I am trying to sing a carol each day -- all of the verses. We miss a lot when we sing only the first and last verses!

Merry Christmas to you and yours!!
