The snowball effect is defined on Wikipedia as "a figurative term for a process that starts from an initial state of small significance and builds upon itself, becoming larger (graver, more serious), and perhaps potentially dangerous or disastrous (a vicious circle, a "spiral of decline"), though it might be beneficial instead (a virtuous circle)." Sounds intense doesn't it? I'm more interested in the virtuous not the vicious circle.
I have suddenly found myself in a snowball effect. Although it's not disastrous, it is frustrating. A season of more change and more uncertainty of the who, what, where, when and how. The only thing I'm absolutely clear about is the why. The why is for His glory.
The enemy is attempting to throw several situations down the steep slippery hill aimed toward me. Singularly each one can be taken on but as each one joins with the other the situation(s) become larger and move at a more rapid pace. Anyone else experiencing that? We all have seasons where we experience the snowball effect. The key is knowing how to get out of the way so that you don't end up buried alive under the difficulty, challenge and frustration the enemy has sent your way.
There are two precious and powerful gems we must cling to in Christ: wisdom and perseverance.
Psalm 32:8(AMP) I [the Lord] will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.
James 1:5(NIV) If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
James 1:2-4 NIV) Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Both wisdom and perseverance brings us through those times when we turn around and look up and see a bigger than life ball of situations heading toward us at a rapid speed. Remember, God has us covered. If you are experiencing a snowball effect in your life I want to encourage you to seek God's wisdom and continue to persevere in the faith knowing that God's promise to you as His child will not fail. Here is a precious promise from our loving, faithful Abba Father that always encourages my heart:
Romans 8:28 (AMP) We are assured and know that God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.
I pray this encourages someone today. Whatever you are facing, keep looking forward at the direction God is taking you for what is behind you can't overtake you or I unless we take our eyes off God and even then He is so faithful and merciful that He will rescue us still. Today and every day I'm living thankful that I belong to Him and even for the seasons of snowball effects because I know God will never allow me to be buried alive! I am also thankful for your visit and I pray God's strength walk with you today and every day.

This is so timely for my own life. Thanks for your encouragement.
I love the visual... yes, the snowball thing happens to all of us. But your follow up thoughts and scriptures are right on target. We NEED these verses, to remind us of who He is and what He is doing in us. Beautifully said, Lisa.

So very important to keep the why in our focus. Your post reminds me of yesterday's message regarding being persistent.
Such a good reminder, even for those of us who aren't being chased down by an errant snowball YET. I've lived long enough to know, they come ... and they go. Remaining steadfast, though, stops them dead in their tracks.
Blessings & hugs,
Kathleen
