I stumbled upon The Gypsy Mamma's 5 Minute Friday word and I love this. Today's word is Grow. Here we go...
How much did I grow Grandpa? He etched another line just above my head on the basement wall. This much, he said with a smile on his face. I stepped away from the wall and turned around to view the line with excitement. The smile left my face when I realized the truth of my natural growth that year. With tears in my eyes I said, Grandpa, it's not much higher than the last marker! Grandpa smiled and hugged me. He said, let's go celebrate your growth together. Off we went upstairs to make a Ice Cream Soda! By the time my lips gripped the straw I was all smiles and feeling pretty good about the little growth I achieved that year! Delicious!
How much did I grow this year Abba Father? Am I baring fruit that lasts to the glory of my Father? Am I yielding to the leadership of the Holy Spirit? Am I quick to repent when I don't get things right? Do I examine myself in the Word of God and not based on what others say? Do I reflect Christ to a hurting world?
I have a ways to go Abba Father. I have much more growing to do and I will until Your Son calls my name for Heaven. You've grown more this year my Daughter and I'm pleased with you. Focus not on how far you have to go but on how far you've come in Me. I hear the Father speak in to my heart. Let's go celebrate your growth together. I'm off to prayer time with my Abba Father to celebrate with Him His Hand-print on my life that causes me to continue to grow. I need Him!
I'm living thankful for constant growth until the Lord calls my name and until then may I (we) persevere in the faith! You're next give 5 minutes on the word Grow. We're not supposed to think about it, make corrections or changes---just type for 5 minutes whatever comes to your heart and mind. For more info go HERE.

Oh, Lisa, I love this! Celebrating grow as a child, seeking growth for today! Beautiful. I never knew my grandparents, so I end up living vicariously through the stories of others.
Thanks for stopping in Diane! I think we were both leaving comments on each others blogs at the same time :)
I'm sorry you didn't get to know your Grandparents. My Grandparents were the life-line to God for me. They are the reason I am who I am today in GOD. They are both in Heaven and I miss them terribly.
I look forward to connecting more with you Diane!
I love this! I didn't have grandparents growing up, most of my children didn't/don't either, although we have adopted grand parents within our church body. The wall going into our kitchen is our "growth chart " space...full of the names of our 13 children who have lived in this house, two have not ever lived here being grown-ups , but how fun, how exciting it is to stand the children up against their previous dated measurements and see just how much they have grown. There are LOTS of marks!! Its far more serious, humbling, and challenging to think of God keeping such a wall for our spiritual growth.........but an interesting idea to contemplate!

Aww... I love this. Thanks for sharing.
Lisa,
What wonderful memories you have.
Knowing as you GROW in Him is the only true growth.
Is this your first 5 minutes?
Hey Linda,
thanks for stopping in sweet friend!I don't know what I what have done without my Grandparents. They were the true representation of Christ in my life. I'm so glad you and your children have adoptive grandparents in your church body! Awesome! God always makes up for what we don't have. He takes care of it!
Hugs and blessings!
Hey Bernadine....good to see your beautiful face and warm smile!
Hey Jill, thanks for a visit to my blog! Yes, this is my first 5 minute Friday and I love it!
Blessings!
I love that picture of a little girl measuring her years in notches in the growth chart. And how as grown women we can continue to measure in our hearts. Beautiful.
Thanks for linking up!

What a lovely memory! And great application to growing with God. I love this question: "Do I reflect Christ to a hurting world?" So essential.
I loved this analogy, too, Lisa...I always enjoy reading stories about your grandparents as it brings to mind great memories of my own...
My husband has a door jam in the basement where he has marked off the grandkids' heights...it is amazing how quickly;y they grow...
Thanks Lisa-Jo!! Thanks so much for offering 5 Minute Friday! I'm not a big meme girl but I love this one:)

Hey Wanda, it's a good season for growth dear sister! I'm right with you!
Aww, Amy, it's nice to meet you too and to connect with you on your blog and on mine. You have a warm heart!
Love this post... what a sermon it preaches! Growth and God and celebration--oh that my mark on the wall is visible to Him this year.
I really love this visual, Lisa. Celebrating all the milestones I've achieved this year with Jesus.
peace~elaine

Congrats on your first five minute Friday post. It's habit forming ;-)
I enjoyed your post, Lisa, especially the opening story. This post is a good reminder to measure ourselves and our growth against God's standard, and no one else's.
